IRSE One Day Seminar, CAPABILITY AND COMPETENCY, London, UK
Wednesday 25th February 2015
As the railway continues to evolve and change to meet increasing demands on capacity, efficiency and reliability, the industry must meet the challenge of developing skills and capability to match. Increasing automation is often seen as the solution to deliver these benefits; however it has many implications for the people and companies involved with the implementation, operation and maintenance of new systems. In this seminar, organised jointly between the IRSE and the Institution of Railway Operators, and sponsored by Thales, leading experts will explore some of the challenges we face, with proposals for how we as an industry can develop the skills and capability we need. Looking to the future, we need to attract exciting young engineers and operators and develop their skills and experience in order to continue to improve railways. We will discuss the role of companies and professional institutions in meeting this challenge, and look to what new skills will be needed in future.
